In November 2012 the charity took on a major project to rebuild the local womens village market which had been devastated by the recent rainy season & was unusable. This small market is so important to the future of the village & 28 women sell their small wares & vegetables at this market. We have completely rebuilt,re roofed, re-plastered, re
painted etc this building. We have also installed for the first time permanent tables for the ladies of the village.
After a full re build of the womens local indoor market at our village we have had several discussions on how to improve the selling capacity of the women (28 of them)who work 6 days a week and have very little to sell & hence cannot produce a good income even if they sold everything. We have decided to lend the original 5 women who
started the market many years agoD2,000 ( E44 ) each to allow them to purchase more goods & hence sell more. Loan agreements have been thumb printed & witnessed. The women are very enthusiastic about this help & say they will not let me down. Of course if they do the other women know the project will be stopped so the success is
is their hands. Re payment is D100 per quarter & all are aware of what is expected from them. If this proves successful we will expand the small loans & try & make the other villagers aware that they should now purchase more in their own local market which will compete on price with the larger markets.
